Hike to the Haniger Schwaige Alpine Farm

A hike through forest and meadows below the rugged rock walls of the Laurinswand face until the Haniger Schwaige Alpine Farm, which is located below the Vajolet Towers. Also the view into the valley basin of Bolzano/Bozen is remarkable.

Take highway's exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d’Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the left and continue to Nova Levante, Carezza and Passo Nigra (about 40 min. from highway toll booth).

With the public bus line 185 via Tires or via Nova Levante with the line 180 or 184 with change to the line 185 at Paolina; bus stop: Passo Nigra; online bus timetables: www.suedtirolmobil.info/en/

The route begins at the Nigerpass (1,688 m) and leads on trail [1] and then on trail [7] via the Baumann Schwaige Alpine farm (1,826 m) to the Haniger Schwaige Alpine farm (1,937 m). Return via the same route.
An alternative route begins in Nova Levante/Welschnofen. Take the cable car up to the Frommeralm tavern. From here, follow trail [1B] to the Messnerjoch Alpine hut, continuing on trail [1] and [7] to the Haniger Schwaige Alpine farm.
