Snowshoe hike to the Mitterleger

This snowshoe hiking tour goes through the Carezza forest with view to the Latemar.

Take highway´s exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d’Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the left in direction to Nova Levante and continue until the Lake Carezza (about 30 min. from highway toll booth).

After you have paid at the pay machine, you have 15 minutes to leave the parking lot.

Starting point for this hiking tour is Lake Carezza (Karer See/Lago di Carezza), which usually is covered with ice and snow in winter, but nonetheless radiates its mystical magic. This snowshoe hike goes along the path no. 11 (Agatha Christie path) to the visit point Mitterleger. Then continue on path no. 21 and no. 13 until the Grand Hotel Carezza. To return to the starting point Lake Carezza, you can take public transport (line 180.1) or you can go back on foot by taking path no. 6, then on Via Bellavista to the suspension bridge and parking lot of Lake Carezza, underpass to Lake Carezza.
