Winter hike from Nova Ponente to Unterkaplun to the Wölflhof farm

Pleasant 2 ½ hour circular hike in Nova Ponente with panoramic views of the snow-covered winter landscape.

Take highway´s exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d’Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the right and continue to Nova Ponente (about 30 min. from highway toll booth). In the centre of Nova Ponente there is free parking directly at Piazza Gibitz, where the hike starts.

The hike starts in the village center of Nova Ponente right next to the church. From the tourist office you start on the path [5] in northern direction. After about 1 km turn left on path [5A] to Unterkaplunhof, 1301 m. Along the cross-country trail you continue to the Wölflhof, 1290 m. Return on the European long-distance trail [E5] in the direction of Gattererhof (view of the Unterland, Salurner Klause and Brenta mountains) and on gravel road and asphalt to the village center of Nova Ponente back to the starting point.
