Panoramic Hike in Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen

This easy and impressive circular hike is especially recommended due to the panoramic views to the Rosengarten, Schlern and Latemar mountains and the Alps. The hike can be combined with a visit at St. Helen chruch, which is famous for its high-Gothic frescoes. These mural paintings are amongst the most precious local examples of the High Gothic period. The church is open all year round. Just in front of the church, at the "Buschenschank" Kreuzhof, the visitors can taste typical south-tyrolean food.

Take highway´s exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d’Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the right and continue to Nova Ponente (about 30 min. from highway toll booth). In the centre of Nova Ponente there is free parking directly at Piazza Gibitz, where the hike starts.

The starting point for this hike is the village centre of Nova Ponente. Head out of the village to the Pfösl hotel. The hiking trail P bears left up and leads you to the St Helen’s Church. This hike is recommended because of the unique panoramic views to Latemar, Catinaccio, Schlern and the Alps. Surrounded by meadows and fields, this hike goes off mostly in sunny areas. Return to the starting point via the forest road and the sidewalk.
