Hiking tour to the Mahlknechthütte and Plattkofelhütte

The 31-kilometer loop around the Langkofel group is a challenging hike suitable only for fit and sure-footed hikers. However, it offers an unforgettable experience with stunning views of the Dolomites.

The hike begins and ends in Compatsch on the Seiser Alm. It can be reached by the Seiser Almbahn cable car or by bus. There is parking at the valley station of the Seiser Almbahn cable car.

The three-day hike on the Seiser Alm takes you from Compatsch to the Mahlknechthütte, from the Mahlknechthütte to the Plattkofelhütte, and from the Plattkofelhütte to Saltria.

Stage 1: From Compatsch, you hike over meadows and through forests to the Mahlknechthütte.

Stage 2: From the Mahlknechthütte, you hike to the Schneid and then around the Langkofel and Plattkofel mountains to the Plattkofelhütte.

Stage 3: From the Plattkofelhütte, you hike steeply down to Saltria. The return to Compatsch is by bus or on foot.
