On our mountains, the names of the Alpini and Kaiserjäger troops are written in the history books on pages of sacrifice and glory. To honour their memory, the original trail from Passo Valparola, 7 km from San Cassiano, built by the Kaiserjäger has been restored and is in use again.

From the museum Forte Tre Sassi, take the Kaiserjäger trail on the east which leads to the remains of the Austrian Command from the First World War. Climb this winding route towards the summit of the Lagació/Lagazuoi. Going on on the path, which is fixed by cables, you can get to a 15 metrelong suspended bridge. The trail continues diagonally across the mountain up to the summit of Lagació/Lagazuoi (2.778 m) (1 h), where a cross remebers the War victims. The view from here is truly breathtaking. Your gaze is drawn from the Odle to the Pelmo, from the Antelao to the Boé, from the Tofane to the Civetta. To complete your journey to the battlefields, it is recommended to descend through the restored and equipped Italian mine tunnel which starts beneath the Lagazuoi hut and that makes your way back to the Passo Falzarego. Otherwise descend by cable car.

Tip: Gloves and a head torch are recommended in the mountain tunnels.
