Val Gardena

Via ferrata small Cir peak

Facile

2h 30min 4,50 km 400 m max 2520 m

The ferrata Cir is a hard one which doesn't mean it's easy. It requires a bit of experience. You don't need a whole day on it, it's enough if you plan an afternoon to do it. You will be astonished in how short time you can reach a peak and be on you own far from the daily confusion and other people. From the peak you will have a great view on the Vallunga.

Through the valley of Gardena until the Gardena Pass or from Selva directly with the cable car Dantercepies

A fantastic fixed rope rout leads you to the little brother (Cir V). It is great for an afternoon stroll, because they are so short and offer a beautiful view. From Selva Val Gardena you can take the cablecar Dantercepies to reach the bottom of the Pizes de Cir, otherwise you can drive to Passo Gardena and from there you can reach the mountain station of Dantercepies. From here, follow the signs for the "Pitla Cir" - ferrata Piccola Cir - along a steep path, in about 20 minutes you will reach the beginning of the road, passing a few rocks. Here you go up a few easy rocks in the direction of a very short ladder, then climb diagonally for a short well-stadded stairs that lead to a subsequent wall, initially vertical but with excellent handholds, then with easy zigzag.

We are at the base of a short jump that is particularly vertical and exposed, after a few steps, we find ourselves at a comfortable stopping place in view of the cross of the summit of the Grande Cir. A simple "jump" on rocky steps and a harmless carving and temporarily ends the cable as you find yourself following a track in the direction of the next rocky obstacle that coincides with the final peak.

The last equipped section begins, initially crossing a simple gully and coming out on a saddle, which is also the crossroad for the next descent, from which a vertical crack comes off to the left, where the presence of a rung makes it providentially easier to pass through. The small and jagged peak is reached and after any ritual photo it is possible to go back down to the saddle below to go to a nearby pinnacle where you can stop as an alternative to the summit continuously reached by other hikers.

Here you have excellent views of the Sella, Sassolungo and Odle. In the first few metres the descent coincides with the uphill path. Follow the obvious cable that descends into the gully, go down a series of rocks for about 50 meters keeping on the left side until a trace of the path between unstable boulders and a lot of debris at the base of the gully where the path itself forks. On the right you can return to the access, on the left you go further down to a second fork. On the right you go back to the top station of the cable car and from there you go down to Passo Gardena, while on the left you follow the path that leads to the base of the Grande Piz da Cir to eventually take the path of the same name equipped keeping at high altitude without necessarily having to go down to the pass. The Cir V via ferrata (also known as Pizes de Cir) can be followed together with the easiest of the nearby Grande Cir, in this case the two accesses are connected by a path that "cuts" halfway down the base of the Cir and avoids having to go down to the pass.
