Pyramid Hike in Collepietra/Steinegg

Romantic hike through forests, meadows and gorges with a view of the mighty earth pyramids, remnants from the ice age. 

Take highwa's exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn left direction Prato all'Isarco and than Collepietra/Steinegg. (about 30 min. from highway toll booth).

Parking in the centre of the village in front of the Cafè Christl or in the Via Weinberg.

Starting from the village square in Collepietra (820 m), and go up, past the Café Christl, through Oberdorf to the barn in front of the Weißes Bild cahpel (895 m). Here you turn left towards Hotel Steineggerhof and then at the beginnig of the fence right down in the meadow. 3 wooden pyramids are the signposts. You reach the Katzenbach gorge, cross it and come on an adventurous trail in the Glirgerwiese, after this begins the Lahnweg with its bridges. In the lanes you are directly below the earth pyramids and can observe the formation of the earth cones. Continue to the Raffeinerhof and on the tarred road towards Heiglerhof. Before this branches off to the right a path with the marking no.2. This leads slightly uphill past the Dosserhof to the main street.
Continue on to the Dosser-Kreuz, from where you descend directly to the earth pyramids and to the viewing platform. The path continues, past the pyramids, to the Glirgerkreuz and over the Katzenbachweg back to the Weißes Bild chapel and the village Collepietra.
