The hike to Schlernbödele and Dibaita Puflatschhütte is a great way to explore the Seiser Alm. It leads through a variety of natural landscapes and offers stunning views of the Dolomites.

The hike starts in Compatsch and first passes the Geologensteig. This trail provides insights into the geological history of the Dolomites. Then, it continues along forested trails to the Seiser Alm. Once there, you can rest and refuel at the Schlernbödelehütte.

From there, you continue to the Dibaita Puflatschhütte. The trail leads through meadows and forests and offers stunning views of the Seiser Alm and the Dolomites.

The hike is not too difficult and is therefore also suitable for families with children.

The hike starts in Bad Ratzes, which can be reached by bus number 15.

Alternatively, you can also drive to Bad Ratzes by car and park there.

 

Stage 1:

  • Start: Hotel Bad Ratzes
  • Destination: Schlernbödelehütte
  • Length: Approximately 7 kilometers
  • Difficulty: Moderate

The hike begins in Bad Ratzes and leads first over the Frötschbach stream and then in switchbacks up the steep forest slope to the Schlernbödelehütte. The trail is moderate and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain range.

Stage 2:

  • Start: Schlernbödelehütte
  • Destination: Dibaita Puflatschhütte
  • Length: Approximately 12 kilometers
  • Difficulty: Easy

The hike first leads through the wild Frötschbachtal valley to the Prossliner Schwaige. From there, it goes down over alpine meadows to Compatsch. In Compatsch, it goes past the Seiser Alm Bahn mountain station to the Dibaita Puflatschhütte. The trail is easy and offers stunning views of the Seiser Alm.

Stage 3:

  • Start: Dibaita Puflatschhütte
  • Destination: Compatsch
  • Length: Approximately 12 kilometers
  • Difficulty: Moderate

The hike first leads to the Arnika Hütte and then over the Goller Kreuz viewpoint to the legendary Witches' Benches. From there, it goes over the Fillner Kreuz to the Engelsrast, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding mountain range. The trail is moderate and offers stunning views of the Dolomites.
