Hiking from Tschafon to Völseggspitze

This hike takes you through a varied landscape of lush meadows, tranquil forests, and stunning views. The trail starts on a forest road lined with wildflowers and herbs. It then continues through the shade of the pine forest, offering occasional glimpses of the surrounding area. At the top, you'll find a large clearing where you can have a picnic or visit the Tschafonhütte.

Getting there by car

Turn off the Tierser Landesstraße onto the road to Schönblick before St. Kathrein. Park about 100 meters below the Gasthof Schönblick.

Getting there by bus

Take bus 185 from Völs. Get off at the Kreuzweg stop. From there, walk up the paved road to the Gasthof Schönblick.

The hike starts at the Gasthof Schönblick. Follow the forest road to Tschafon until you see a small hiking trail to the right. Take this trail and hike through the forest to the north slope of Völseggspitze. After about 1.5 hours, you'll reach the Tschafonhütte.

From the hut, you can climb to the top of Völseggspitze. The ascent takes about 30 minutes. From the top of Völseggspitze, you'll have stunning views of the surrounding area.

To descend, follow the hiking trail from the Tschafonhütte to the right. The trail leads through the pine forest downhill. After about 1 hour, you'll reach Wuhnleger. There, you can see the Rosengarten reflected in the small village.

Follow the paved road to the left and go past the St. Sebastian chapel back to the Gasthof Schönblick.
