Hike: The meadows of Monte Gsell

Vanskeligt

2h 0min 3,50 km 750 m max 2065 m

An insider’s tip for those who are searching for quietness, solitude and nature. The trails to meadows are easy but partially steep. Description of the way: we start from the Berghotel (1371 m) and go to the other side of Moso where the way 1A goes southward in middle of the forest, passing the ex Fort Haideck and until the cross with the path number 12. We take this steep path turning right, cross some brooklets and colourful flower meadows and arrive at the highest point of the excursion – the Monte Gesell inner – where we have a spectacular view to the mountains of Sexten. We go on towards West on a rocky way and arriving on the AusserGsell where is a fountain and a private hut. To go down we take the large pathway nr. 12 until we arrive at the crossing with the path 12b which we take on our right finishing in the centre of Sexten and back to the Berghotel.
Summary: If you love the silence, solitude and a sea of flowers, this excursion is right for you. You have to take food and drink because there is no managed hut.
