Via Ferrata Maximilian

Strenuous

1h 28min 3,80 km 401 m max 2641 m

The Maximilian Via Ferrata requires good footing and a head for heights, as it follows a sometimes brittle ridge without any safety ropes. Although it is not considered technically difficult, only experienced climbers should attempt it. During the ascent, you cross the entire Rosszahnkamm from the Großer Rosszahn to the Roterdspitze and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Seiser Alm and the Dolomite peaks.

From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the road to the Seiser Alm is closed to private traffic. During this time, you can reach the largest high alp in Europe by taking the Seiser Alm cable car or bus.

Following the sign "Maximilian Via Ferrata" behind the Tierser-Alpl-Hütte, you will pass through a narrow gorge to reach a notch and finally the summit ridge of the Großer Rosszahn. To the west, you descend through a rock gate to the Roterdkamm and continue on to the Roterdscharte. A last "emergency exit" leads back to the Tierser Alpl from here. If you continue on the via ferrata, you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Dolomites from the Roterdspitze. Then, by going down the west side and following the path marked with number 4, you will return to the Tierser Alpl.
