Seiser Alm

From the Völser Weiher lake to the Migg Cave

Medium

2h 30min 7,26 km 350 m max 1272 m

From Lake Völser Weiher, you can take a leisurely stroll around the lake before embarking on a hike towards the Migg Cave. This cave was once the home of an extraordinary man named Franz Mich, also known as "Migg," who lived as a hermit in the forests above the Tuff Alm. His cave and belongings have been preserved and this tour gives you a glimpse into his life and surroundings. You can also find this hike in the family hiking book "My Little Witch Nix Hiking Notebook" (Hike No. 6).

From Lake Völser Weiher, take the child-friendly forest road (which doubles as a toboggan run in winter) to the Tuffalm. Here, you'll find a great playground and petting zoo with rabbits and goats. In addition to cows and horses, alpacas and camels also graze in the surrounding meadows.

From there, continue on trail No. 8 through the forest (without a stroller!). After crossing a small bridge, turn left onto a steep path that leads to the cave. Once there, you'll see Migg's furnishings, from his bed to his simple cooking utensils.

To return, you can follow the same path back to the Tuffalm. If you want to keep hiking, continue on trail No. 8 towards Ums and then back to Lake Völser Weiher. Along the way, there are opportunities to stop for refreshments.
