Home Dolomites Winter Alta Badia Winter hiking Snowshoe hike between Corvara and Colfosco
This medium-easy route is perfect for snowshoeing and is easily accessible by public transport.
It runs circularly between the villages of Corvara and Colfosco, at the foot of the majestic Sassongher mountain. The initial ascent through the woods will then give way to a spectacular view of the north face of the Sella massif.
Before heading out on the hike check the weather forecast and the avalanche report http://www.arpa.veneto.it/neve_valanghe/it/pdf/dolomiti_nevevalanghe.pdf.

From the hamlet of Pescosta in Corvara walk up to the Merscia road and then follow the sunny path towards Colfosco. Shortly after, take path nr. 4a, which climbs rather steeply through the woods to the Col Pradat refuge (2038 m). From here you start the descent, on the side of the ski slope, to the Edelweiss hut (1832 m). At this point it is possible to reach the village of Colfosco on foot along path nr. 4 or taking the Colfosco cable car for the descent. Near the valley station you take the Waterfall Path (nr. 28) which runs along the river and brings you back to Corvara in a short time.
