The Seiser Alm is inextricably linked with the names Hans and Paula Steger. The two skiers and mountaineers were pioneers of Dolomites mountaineering and have left a lasting mark on the alm. The Hans & Paula Steger Trail is a tribute to their life's work. Along the trail, information boards tell the story of the Seiser Alm's natural and cultural history. Hikers can be enchanted by the beauty of the Dolomites on this easy trail.
You can reach the Seiser Alm by taking the Seiser Alm cable car.
The road to the Seiser Alm is closed to private traffic from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. During these times, you can only reach the Seiser Alm by taking the Seiser Alm cable car or bus. Departures from Compatsch are possible at any time.
The hike on the Seiser Alm starts at the Seiser Alm cable car mountain station in Compatsch. It first leads to the St. Francis Church, where the Hans-und-Paula-Steger Trail begins. Trail No. 30 leads over meadows and past the Steger Dellai Hotel. It meets the road to Saltria, turns right and leads down into a stream valley. The hike continues through forest and over alpine meadows to the Laranz Almhütte. From there, Trail No. 12 leads down into the Saltria Valley. The return to Compatsch can be made by bus.
